Rosuvastatin belongs to the group of medicines called statins. It reduces the levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) in the blood and glycerides in the blood to reduce the risk of future heart attacks and strokes. In addition to a healthy low-fat diet, this medication works very effectively. High cholesterol is one of the biggest health problems that human beings face today. High cholesterol, also known as dyslipidaemia, is when there is too much or too little cholesterol in your blood. When your blood has too much cholesterol, your arteries become narrower and more clogged, which can lead to heart diseases such as stroke, heart attack, etc. Rosuvastatin works by blocking the enzymes that make cholesterol in the liver, which reduces the amount of cholesterol made by the liver and the amount of cholesterol that is already in your blood. It also increases your body’s ability to remove cholesterol from your blood. By blocking the production of “bad” cholesterol, it increases the amount of “good” cholesterol in your body.
